WolfInstitute's Winter/Spring 2004 Seminar Series includes seven programs this month.
Aimed at human resource professionals, senior managers and in-house counsel, the sessions provide a wide range of pragmatic, employment-related training in a lively, interactive classroom setting.
All courses take place at the WolfInstitute Training Center, 1650 Arch Street, Philadelphia. Each course is taught by attorneys and human resource professionals of WolfBlock.
The June schedule of courses includes:
Wednesday, June 2, ADA, FMLA, STD and Workers' Compensation, 9 to noon, with Linda B. Hollinshead as instructor. This seminar is designed to help employers determine their rights and obligations to employees on leaves of absence.
Thursday, June 3, You Have been Served ... Now What?, 9 to 11:30 a.m., with David L. Golin as instructor. This seminar will cover various state and federal discrimination laws, how claims raised under those laws are litigated and the events that will occur in the process.
Tuesday, June 8, The "Ins" and Outs of USCIS, 9 to 11 a.m., with Jonathan D. Wetchler as instructor. The seminar will discuss what to do when an applicant informs you that he or she is not currently eligible to work in the United States, to giving managers a realistic time frame for the process, to how to get the applicant to the United States as quickly as possible once the visa is approved by the USCIS.
Thursday, June 10, Patient Records: Documentation, Confidentiality and Reporting, 9 to 11 a.m., with Richard J. King Jr. as instructor. This seminar will highlight how to document properly patient care in the medical record to meet quality standards, receive reimbursement from payors and defend against government fraud, abuse enforcement actions and medical malpractice claims.
Tuesday, June 15, Question Your Questions, 9 to 11 a.m., with Jodi T. Plavner as instructor. Interviewing is the core of a successful hiring process. The key is knowing what questions to ask and how to measure not only objective but also subjective skills. This seminar is a highly interactive workshop.
Wednesday, June 16, 401(k) Plan Investment Selection, 9 to 11 a.m., with William D. Wright as instructor. This program will review the recent developments related to the various investment scandals including issues related to employer stock and mutual fund investment choices.
Tuesday, June 22, Investigations of Harassment Claims, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with Jonathan A. Segal as instructor. This seminar provides a practical overview of how to avoid the legal minefields which can result in significant liability to either the complainant or the accused. Particular attention is paid to the decision-making and corrective action processes.
