The WolfInstitute this month is offering a half-day New Jersey seminar titled Negotiating the Physician Employment Relationship.

The session will take place on Wednesday, March 23 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the offices of WolfBlock Brach Eisler, 101 Eisenhower Parkway, Roseland, NJ.

This course focuses on key issues in the negotiation of the physician employment relationship. Sample employment contract provisions are analyzed.

The featured speaker will be John D. Fanberg, recently named managing partner for the office of WolfBlock Brach Eisler in Roseland.

Specific issues that Mr. Fanberg will cover include:

  • Various types of compensation arrangements and their relative merits;
  • Employment contract term and termination provisions;
  • The employed physician's scope of duties;
  • Restrictions on outside activities during the term of employment;
  • Post-employment relationship restrictive covenants;
  • Timing of the employed physician's buy-in and determining the purchase price;
  • Fringe benefits;
  • Insurance requirements;
  • What happens if the employed physician becomes disabled;
  • Post-termination notices.
