The University of Texas School of Law this month will present its 24th Annual Nonprofit Organizations Institute.
The program will take place Wednesday-Friday, January 10-12 at the Four Seasons Hotel, 98 San Jacinto, Austin, TX. Sessions run from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on the first day, 8:50 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the second day, and 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on the third day.
Panelists will discuss topics such as: Reading Between the Lines: Beyond a Basic Understanding of Nonprofit Financial Statements; Navigating the UBTI Rules: How to Run Innovative Programs Without Tripping Over the Tax Laws;Investment and Tax Implications of Alternative Assets; Chasing Government Money: How to Obtain Earmarked Funding; Compensation Issues for Exempt Organizations; Basics of International Grant Making, and A Guide for Nonprofits on Legal and Effective Lobbying (or How to Be a Troublemaker Without Getting Into Trouble).
Among the speakers are Johnny Rex Buckles, University of Houston Law Center; Joyce Hellums, Ernst & Young LLP, and David M. Rosenberg and Terry L. Simmons, Thompson & Knight LLP.
