Two-Day Course Will OfferAdvice On Conducting Depositions

MICPEL, in cooperation with the Maryland State Bar Association, the University of Baltimore School of Law, and the University of Maryland School of law, this month is offering a two-day CLE seminar titled Deposition Practice & Procedure.

The program will take place on Thursday and Friday, December 16 and 17 at the University of Baltimore Business Center, Charles Street and Mount Royal Avenue, Baltimore. Sessions run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day.

The seminar is designed to train attorneys in the skills involved in taking and defending depositions. This intensive two-day course uses team teaching in a workshop format.

The faculty will present lectures on how to prepare and depose witnesses, offering their unique insights and practice tips. Participants will then be divided into opposing "teams" using a mock case file and will have the opportunity to prepare a witness for deposition, as well as take or defend a portion of a deposition of a party and an expert witness.

Each participant will present two live exercises daily and be critiqued by the faculty. Video tapes of each participant's performances will be made and also critiqued daily.

Team leaders for the two-day seminar are Neil J. Dilloff, Jeffrey D. Hirschman and Tracey Gann Turner, all of Piper Rudnick, LLP, and Kathleen Howard Meredith, Iliff & Meredith, P.C.
