The Basics Of Immigration Law

What You Need to Know to Practice Immigration Law Successfully: Getting Your Client the Right Non-Immigrant Visa and "Green Card" is the title of a CLE seminar scheduled for this month by the New York County Lawyers' Association (NYCLA).

The program will take place on successive Tuesdays, March 21 and March 28, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the NYCLA Home of Law, 14 Vesey Street, New York City.

The program will guide participants through the complexities of the Immigration and Nationality Act with all its recent amendments and clarify how to represent the client who seeks permanent residence or a non-immigrant visa to stay in the United States. Discussion tropics will include: non-immigrant categories; family-based immigration; employment-based immigration; adjustment of status vs. consular processing; political asylum cases, and ethical issues faced by immigration practitioners.
