The South/Central Texas Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel-America has a pair of CLE seminars on its calendar this month and next on timely topics of interest to corporate attorneys.
On Wednesday, July 7, the chapter will present a session titled Corporate Campaign Contributions.
The program will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the San Antonio Plaza Club, 2100 Frost Bank Tower, 100 East Houston Street, San Antonio, TX.
Speakers will be Robert H. Finney and Murray H. Van Eman, both of Loeffler, Jonas & Tuggey, LLP.
On Wednesday, August 4, the chapter has scheduled a program titled Records Control in an Era of Corporate Reform from noon to 1:30 p.m., also at the San Antonio Plaza Club.
The corporate legal community is facing increased accountability for records management policy development, implementation and compliance. Pressures resulting from corporate governance scandals and high-profile legislation are driving legal departments to re-examine their approach.
This session will deliver key elements corporate counsel must know to develop and implement an enforceable records control program. Participants will learn the policy elements that must be in place, what to watch out for that can hinder companies from reaching their goals and how to ensure compliance throughout the organization including:
Case histories that are shaping the corporate legal industry;
Specific examples of what works and what doesn't work;
Insights into why most companies consider the risks associated with e-mail policies to be their primary records management challenge and how to avoid these concerns;
Understanding the critical importance of training and auditing in implementing a successful and enforceable program.
