Society Of Corporate SecretariesReadies Its 60th National Conference

The Society of Corporate Secretaries & Governance Professionals this month will hold its 60th National Conference under the theme Building a Future, Honoring Our Past.

The event will take place from Wednesday, June 28 through Saturday, July 1 at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel, 1200 Market Street, Philadelphia.

The conference will begin on Wednesday with an Ethics and the Law workshop conducted by Eric W. Orts, professor of legal studies and business ethics at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

This year's opening address will be given on Thursday morning by Frank G. Zarb, former chairman of Nasdaq. The annual luncheon address will be given by Michael Bechloss, NBC News presidential historian. The annual SEC Update will be presented by SEC Commissioner Paul S. Atkins, and the Saturday morning address will be given by former SEC Commissioner Harvey Pitt.

Individual workshops will include: Executive Compensation Disclosure, Navigating a Crisis, The Many Roles of the Corporate Secretary and Governance Professional, The Press' View of Corporate America, Management of the Board and Its Committees, Challenges at Private and Small- and Mid-Cap Public Companies, Compliance and Subsidiary Management, and Effective Minute Taking.
