The Barristers Club of the Bar Association of San Francisco has planned its annual meeting for 2011 - Professional Growth for Our Generation - on Friday, October 14.
It will run from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the BASF Conference Center, 301 Battery Street in San Francisco.
The day begins with a breakfast from 8:00 a.m. followed by the program from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and a reception from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. The morning sessions cover such topics as tips every associate should know; whether the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will bring affordable care to California; medical cannabis taxation; and liability issues arising from new social networking tools. In the afternoon, CEQA initiatives under the Brown administration; wrap insurance policies; and the legal ethics pitfalls of social networking will be covered. Richard Zitrin, Carlson, Calladine & Peterson LLP, will discuss ethics and the new lawyer as the luncheon keynote speaker, and a judges panel offering words of wisdom for attorneys who are considering being a judge will end the day.
Other speakers include Kenneth D. Gack, JAMS; Hon. Jamie Jacobs-May (ret), JAMS; Deborah S. Ballati, Farella Braun + Martel; and Andrea Fitanides, Volunteer Legal Services Program, BASF.
