Series To ExamineCommercial Leasing

The DC Bar Association this month will launch its Ins and Outs of Commercial Leasing Series.

On Monday, October 25, DC Bar will present Part 1 from 6 to 9:15 p.m., at the DC Bar Conference Center, 1250 H Street, NW, Washington, DC.

This session will introduce participants to the commercial leasing process beginning with letters of intent (sample letters of intent will be provided). The discussion will consider binding versus non-binding letters of intent, critical items to include, and the proper role of the attorney in letter of intent negotiations.

On Monday, November 1, DC Bar will offer Part 2, also from 6 to 9:15 p.m. at the DC Bar Conference Center.

This second session will cover such topics as assignment and subletting, compliance with laws, work letters and work agreements, alterations and repair obligations, determination of commencement date and definition and measurement of the premises.

The speakers at both sessions will be Edward A. Bloom, Bell, Boyd & Lloyd, PLLC; J. Grier Hoyt, Venable LLP; Marc A. Sobel, JM Zell Partners, LTD, and Edward S. West, Covington & Burling.
