Seminar Will Show AttorneysHow To Reduce Stress In Their Lives

Stress Management for Professionals is the title of a CLE seminar being offered this month by the New York County Lawyers' Association (NYCLA)

The program will take place on Monday, July 24 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the NYCLA Home of Law, 14 Vesey Street, New York City.

Based on the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction methodology developed at the University of Massachusetts Medical School by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zin and others, and learned by a litigator who has studied with the experts in the field, this course will present well-researched methods for developing a number of simple skills and processes that participants can integrate into their lives both at work and at home to cope effectively with the stress endemic to their chosen profession. These skills will enhance lawyers' performance both in and out of the courtroom due to a greater sense of well-being and confidence.

Participants will learn: how to recognize the first signs of stress and 'nip them in the bud;' how to communicate assertively, but in a manner that limits stress on both sides of the conversation, and some simple exercises that can be done daily both at home and at work to keep stress at bay.

The featured speaker is Elizabeth J. Coleman, litigator and consultant.
