Seminar Will Review OutsourcingIn Asia Pacific Market

The Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI) has scheduled a CLE seminar titled Asia Pacific Outsourcing & Other Cross Border Transactions in two locations this month.

The program will take place on Friday, March 18 at the Conference Center at Mellon, 501 Grant Street, Pittsburgh, and on Thursday, March 31 at the CLE Conference Center, Wanamaker Building, Juniper Street, Philadelphia. Sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Increasing international competition is forcing more American companies to consider outsourcing. This seminar will focus on the challenges and issues that arise when outsourcing manufacturing or services is considered.

Topics to be covered include:

  • How to set up contract manufacturing in China;
  • Examples of outsourcing in India such as software development, medical transcription, and financial services call centers;
  • Intellectual property concerns;
  • Ethical concerns including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

The course planner is Dennis Unkovic, Meyer, Unkovic & Scott, LLP. Other speakers will be Jonathan D. Bonime, ANH Refractories; Michael E. Hooten, H.J. Heinz Company, and David Iwinski, Acusis, LLC.
