E-Discovery and Evidence Best Practices is the title of a seminar planned for this month by the Colorado Bar Association.
The program will take place on Tuesday, September 26 from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the CBA-CLE Classroom, 1900 Grant Street, Denver. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.
Video replays of the course will be offered on Wednesday, October 18 in Denver, Colorado Springs and Grand Junction.
Attendees will learn about the pending changes to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. On April 12, the U.S. Supreme Court approved changes to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure set to go into effect on December 1 (unless Congress intervenes) that significantly affect attorneys' responsibilities regarding the 'preservation and disclosure' of electronically-stored information (ESI).' These proposed new rules require that attorneys know what they can reasonably ask from the other side, the basics of their client's information technology systems and what they are capable of preserving and producing.
The course will include sessions on the latest case law, rules and technology updates that will enable attorneys to communicate effectively with their clients, the opposing side, and the court.
The featured speaker is Michael Arkfeld, a former assistant U.S. attorney and author of Electronic Discovery and Evidence, 2nd ed.
