Certain states, including New Jersey, are advancing legal rights to members of same-sex unions, while other states, and the federal government, are enacting measures to limit their recognition. Companies find themselves caught in the legislative crossfire, as employees in same-sex unions seek to obtain benefits, protected leaves of absence, and other job security previously unavailable to them.
This issue will be the focus this month of a New Jersey Corporate Counsel Association (NJCCA) CLE seminar titled Domestic Partnerships, Same-Sex Marriage & the Emerging Workplace Minefield.
The program will take place on Wednesday, November 30 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Somerset Marriott, Two Executive Drive, Somerset, NJ.
This seminar will examine how gender-based issues are forcing employers to rethink their workplace policies and benefits strategies, as well as their response to day-to-day employee issues.
The featured speaker will be John P. Quirke, a partner of the Labor and Employment Law Department at Archer & Greiner P.C.
