Seminar On §409A Compliance And Deferred Compensation

New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education will sponsor a seminar titled Section 409 Compliance and Deferred Compensation - A Guide for Tax, Benefit and Corporate Attorneys.It is scheduled for Wednesday, June 18 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the New Jersey Law Center, Ryders Lane exit off Rt. I, New Brunswick, NJ.

IRS Code Section 409A rules are highly technical, and attorneys dealing with them must fully understand their reach and implications. The program will include among other specifics an insight into: what is deferred compensation under 409A; important exemptions to the rule; what is a short-term deferral?; treatment of involuntary separation pay; grandfathered benefits and actions required to avoid application of 409A; treatment of stock options; reporting and withholding requirements; what happens to a company and its employees if plans are not in compliance.
