Professional Responsibility in the Age of the Internet - Ethical Implications of Using Digital Technology is the title of a CLE seminar slated for Tuesday, November 23 by the New York County Lawyers' Association (NYCLA).
In this program, speakers will analyze troublesome issues of professional responsibility that practitioners must consider when using the Internet and a variety of other new technologies in connection with the practice of law.
Panelists will provide an overview of potential ethical hot spots for lawyers who transact business on the information superhighway, including communicating via the Internet and e-mail; marketing legal services on the Internet; the regulation of online cross-border law practice, fee forfeiture and other potential hazards; answering legal questions and discussing legal subjects online, and complex issues specific to virtual law firms.
Serving as program chair is Anthony E. Davis, Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP. Other speakers will be Richard M. Maltz, Law Office of Richard M. Maltz, and Ellen C. Yaroshefsky, Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
The program will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. at the NYCLA Home of Law, 14 Vesey Street, New York City.
