On Tuesday, November 15, the Bar Association of San Francisco will offer the Complex Courts Symposium 2011.
It will run from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Administrative Office of the Courts, 455 Golden Gate Avenue in San Francisco.
The program begins with a report on the state of the complex courts with Hon. Steven A. Brick of the Alameda County Superior Court. Attendees can then choose from two tracks, Innovations in the Complex Courts or Discovery in the Complex Courts. Both tracks feature lawyer moderators and complex judge panelists, including Raymond C. Marshall, Bingham McCutchen, LLP, and Danny Chou, Office of the San Francisco City Attorney. This first group session will be followed by a second session with two tracks - Resolving Cases in the Complex Courts (when are complex cases ripe for mediation, why settlement of class actions is different) and Multi-Jurisdiction Complex Cases (why be in the complex state courts, intersection of Delaware Chancery derivative suits and California complex cases, how bankruptcies affect complex cases). Lawyer moderators for this segment include Patricia Gillette, Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe, LLP and Peter Larson, Jones Day.
Among the complex judge panelists are Hon. Emilie Elias, Los Angeles County, Hon. Nancy Wieben Stock, Orange County, and Hon. Anthony Mohr, Los Angeles County.
A cocktail reception will follow the seminar.
