The Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI) this month is offering a CLE seminar titled Handling the Sexual Harassment Case in three locations.
The program will take place on Tuesday, August 8 at the Koppers Building, 436 Seventh Avenue, Pittsburgh; on Tuesday, August 15 at the PBI Conference Center, 5080 Ritter Road, Mechanicsburg, PA, and on Tuesday, August 22 at the CLE Conference, Wanamaker Bldg, Juniper Street, Philadelphia. Sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
This course has been designed at an intermediate level for those who have a familiarity with basic sexual harassment law. After bringing attendees up to date on the case developments, panelists will discuss handling a sexual harassment case from the investigation through trial.
Among the discussion topics will be: counseling the employee who believes he/she is being harassed; complaintsthe alleged victim must make, how and when, to be protected from retaliation; how an employer can avoid retaliation claims from the alleged victim and others who participate in the investigation; the extent to which the employee or the employee's counsel should participate in the investigation; what to do about naming individual defendants; what evidence should be explored to support or defend a punitive damage claim in light of Kolstad .
