PA Bar Institute To Kick Off'Commercial Document Series 2004'

Document Drafting is as important to the success of the deal as the negotiation itself. Negotiation and drafting go hand-in-hand, but unfortunately, neither comes naturally to most people.

With this in mind, the Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI) this month will launch its Commercial Document Series 2004. The opening segments will focus on Shareholder Agreements, Intellectual Property Agreements and Acquisition Agreements.

Taught by attorneys who are drafting pros and who understand intimately the nuances of the different business document, each session focuses on a specific agreement, offering a basic "walk-through" that highlights key clauses and essential provisions, and identifies negotiating strategies and potential pitfalls unique to that specific document.

Shareholder Agreements will be presented on Wednesday, July 14 at the CLE Center, Wanamaker Building, Juniper Street, Philadelphia; on Wednesday, July 21 at the Conference Center at Mellon, 501 Grant Street, Pittsburgh, and on Thursday, July 22 at the PBI Conference Center, 5080 Ritter Road, Mechanicsburg, PA.

Intellectual Property Agreements will be presented in Philadelphia on Wednesday, July 21, in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, July 28, and in Mechanicsburg on Thursday, July 29.

Acquisition Agreements will be presented in Philadelphia on Wednesday, July 28.

Each session runs from 8 to 10:15 a.m., with registration starting at 7:30 a.m.

Serving as course planner is Eric L. Brossman, a frequent PBI lecturer and partner at Saul Ewing LLP. Other speakers will be Timothy B. Anderson, Pepper Hamilton LLP; Michael D. Ecker, Dilworth Paxson LLP; Shaun R. Eisenhauer, McNees Wallace & Nurick LLC; John B. Montgomery, Tucker Arensberg, P.C.; Scott D. Patterson and Catherine W. Walters, Saul Ewing, and Craig R. Trachtenberg, Nixon Peabody LLP.
