To help attorneys familiarize themselves with emerging technologies, the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) this month will offer a CLE seminar titled Internet Use in Law Practice in two locations.
The programs will take place on Tuesday, June 15 at The Forum, One Cleveland Center, Cleveland, and on Thursday, June 24 at the OSBA headquarters, 1700 Lake Shore Drive, Columbus, Ohio. Each session runs from 8:30 to 11:45 a.m. Registration begins at 8 a.m.
The sessions will focus on:
The Internet as a practice resource, including suggestions and guidelines under Ohio ethics law for legal websites; maintaining confidentiality and avoiding ethics violations in the use of e-mail in law practice, and online "communities" such as newsgroups and BLAWGS;
Internet research strategies for the busy lawyer, including making smart legal research choices, legal web portals that lead the way, and new searching tricks with Google;
Search techniques in action, including locating Ohio case and statutory law in the Casemaker Web Library, using government web sites for federal law, techniques for efficient fact research on companies, and a lawyer's guide to useful resources for public records research.
