NYSBA Corporate Counsel SectionPlans First Corporate Counsel Institute

The Corporate Counsel Section of the New York State Bar Association this month is offering its first Corporate Counsel Institute.

The two-day event will take place on Thursday and Friday, September 22 and 23 at The Princeton Club of New York, 15 West 43rd Street, New York City. Sessions will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the first day and from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on the second day.

The institute, designed as a comprehensive two-day program covering a multitude of topics of particular interest to corporate counsel, will be combined with the section's popular annual Ethics for Corporate Counsel program.

Day one will be devoted to five separate plenary sessions. Day one lunch will feature a keynote speaker to be announced. Day two will begin with Ethics for Corporate Counsel in the morning, followed by breakout workshops on issues related to the plenary sessions.

The plenary sessions will include:

  • The Use of In-House Alternative Dispute Resolution for Employment Law Issues;
  • In-House Compliance Programs;
  • Litigation and E-Discovery;
  • Law Department Management - Client Needs and Service: The In-House Lawyer as Business Person;
  • Intellectual Property.

Serving as program chair is Jay L. Monitz, divisional vice president and assistant general counsel, Federated Department Stores, Inc.
