NYSBA Business Law Section Elects Chair

Samuel F. Abernethy, a partner in the commercial practice firm of Menaker & Herrmann, LLP, has been electedchair of the New York State Bar Association's 5,300-member Business Law Section.

Mr. Abernethy's practice includes litigation, and corporate and business transactions. Formerly general counsel for the Commodity Exchange, Inc., now known as the New York Board of Trade, Inc., he developed an expertise in derivatives and commodities law, as well as securities compliance.

Active in the NYSBA, Mr. Abernethy is a founding member of the section's Committee on Futures and Derivatives Law, which he later chaired. He currently serves on the Association's Committee on Diversity and Leadership Development, and the President's Special Committee on Youth Outreach.
