The Metropolitan New York Chapter of the Legal Marketing Association (NYLMA) honored four individual members and two committees with its annual Metropolitan New York LMA Awards for service to the chapter and the legal marketing profession. The Awards were presented at the New York chapter’s recent annual Summer Soiree at the Bryant Park Grill.
“We are thrilled to recognize these outstanding individuals and committees for their extraordinary contributions to our chapter and the continuing growth and impact of marketing and business development in the legal industry,” said Maziel Abrego, chapter president and senior manager of marketing and client services with Troutman Sanders LLP. “There were many other exceptional candidates for these awards and we look forward to honoring them similarly in future years.”
This year’s winners are:
Member of the Year: Seth Apple, Business Development Manager at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, for “outstanding contributions by an individual member.” As co-chair of the Communications Committee, he “has led the team that has brought national recognition to our chapter in industry publications and at industry events.”
Susan Benjamin Legacy Award: Rita Menz, formerly Director of Marketing at Porzio, Bromberg & Newman P.C. and Patterson Belknap, Webb & Tyler LLP, for continuing the legacy of the chapter’s first president by “always making herself available over the years to be helpful in any way needed.”
Thought Leader of the Year: Wendy Bernero, Chief Strategy Officer at Proskauer Rose LLP, for bringing “a disciplined and analytic approach to legal marketing that the industry had not seen before.”
Future Leader of the Year Award: Tiffany Yarde, Marketing Manager at Cohen & Gresser LLP, “for not doing things a certain way just because that’s the way it’s been done before.”
Committee of the Year: Programming Committee (co-chairs Andy Edelstein of Edelstein Communications and Lindsay Griesmeyer, Business Development Manager at Latham & Watkins LLP) “for delivering the foundational benefit of LMA to our members, education.”
Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Year: CMO SIG (co-chairs Linda Sparn, Director of Marketing at Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP, and Andrea Stimmel, president of LawFirmBuilders LLC), for putting together “challenging and valuable” programs throughout the year.
