NY Bar Foundation NamesKelley Drye Scholarship Recipient

Carissa Pilotti, a student at Columbia Law School, has been chosen as the recipient of the Kelley Drye & Warren LLP Scholarship administered by The New York Bar Foundation. The $10,000 award is available to second-year students attending Columbia Law School who have at least a B average and intend to practice law in the State of New York upon graduation. The recipient of the scholarship is selected by Columbia Law School.

John R. Horan, president of The Foundation said: 'We are pleased to award the Kelley Drye & Warren LLP Scholarship to Carissa Pilotti. Ms. Pilotti's academic achievements, legal internships and volunteer work made her an excellent candidate for this award. The Kelley Drye & Warren LLP Scholarship is one example of the important and exciting new initiatives that The Foundation has designed recently to better serve New York's legal profession, the justice system and the community.'

In 2005, Ms. Pilotti received the Legal Aid Society's Pro Bono Award for her work on a landmark civil rights case brought on behalf of mentally ill inmates throughout New York State prisons.

Mr. Horan also reported that in addition to the Kelley Drye Scholarship, The Foundation's Board of Directors recently created a fund in honor of Robert L. Haig, a Kelley Drye partner, to support innovations in the provision of cost-effective civil legal services for the indigent. The members of The Foundation's Board have made personal contributions to this Fund as a tribute to Mr. Haig for his leadership during his three-year term as president of The Foundation.

The New York Bar Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the 72,000-member New York State Bar Association.
