Northwestern Law School ReadiesCorporate Counsel Institute

For 43 years, the Corporate Counsel Institute at Northwestern University School of Law has provided thousands of general counsel with a forum for addressing current challenges and discussing recent developments in the law.

This fall the tradition continues with the Chicago program being held September 29 and 30 and the San Francisco program being held December 1 and 2. Developed by general counsel from some of the nation's leading corporations, the 2005 program will equip attendees with the knowledge they need to make more informed decisions and connect them with peers and experts from which to learn.

A special focus on the financials will bring together auditors, accountants and seasoned general counsel to offer real advise on many topics including: managing relationships with an audit firm, how to detect problems such as those unveiled at Enron and Worldcom, knowing when to call in outside counsel, and implementing internal financial controls.

Northwestern Law is bringing back the popular session General Counsel Discussions - Lessons Learned and Best Practices. This panel discussion offers attendees a candid look at how experienced peers are handling today's challenges and what to do when encountering similar situations.

Keeping in-house counsel up-to-date on developments in the law that affect corporate legal departments is always an important goal of the Corporate Counsel Institute. This year, the program will outline recent developments in electronic records and discovery, M & A, tort reform and employment law.
