NJCCA Slates Seminars On Technology,Commercial Law, Sentencing Guidelines

The New Jersey Corporate Counsel Association (NJCCA) this month is planning a trio of CLE seminars on timely issues crucial to the practice of in-house counsel.

On Wednesday, November 10, NJCCA and the firm of Cozen O'Connor are offering a program titled Corporate Criminal Investigations and Prosecutions: A New Era.

The session will take place from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at he Bridgewater Marriott, 700 Commons Way, Bridgewater, NJ.

The U.S. Sentencing Commission has promulgated new corporate sentencing guidelines effective this month. A written compliance program for all businesses concerning how to handle criminal acts when discovered will be discussed.

Speakers are Henry W. Asbill, Barry Boss and William B. Moffit, all of Cozen O'Connor, and an in-house attorney to be announced.

Also on November 10, NJCCA will present Commercial Law Update 2004: What Purchasing and Supply Professionals and Their Counsel Should Know. This discussion will look at recent developments in the laws affecting purchasing and supply, including recent revisions to Article 2 of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), developments in electronic commerce, and current law applicable to purchasing and supply.

The speaker for this session will be Martin Carrara, corporate counsel at Pfizer Inc.

The program will take place from 5:45 to 8 p.m. at the Headquarters Plaza Hotel, Morristown, NJ.

On Tuesday, November 16, NJCCA is planning a CLE seminar titled Law and Practice of E-Discovery and E-Forensics.

The program, co-sponsored by Cricket Technologies, will take place from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Hanover Marriott, Route 10, Whippany, NJ.

The session will cover recent developments in the law and practice of e-discovery and e-forensics. Practice pointers and legal updates will be offered.

Speakers at the morning session will include Whitney Adams, general counsel for Cricket Technologies; Kevin Mandia, author of Incident Response & Computer Forensics and founder of Red-Cliff Consulting, and Jim Michalowicz, director of litigation support for Tyco Industries.
