New Patent Case Rules In Western Pennsylvania

On January 1, the U.S. District Court in the Western District of Pennsylvania became the fourth federal district in the country to adopt specialized rules for patent cases. To give attorneys a better understanding of these rules, the Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI) this month is planning a CLE seminar titled Local Patent Rules for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

The program will take place on Wednesday, September 7 from 1:30 to 4:45 p.m. at the Conference Center at Mellon, 501 Grant Street, Pittsburgh.

The seminar is designed to acquaint attorneys with the details of areas, such as:

  • Requirements imposed on patent owners and accused infringers in terms of initial disclosures;
  • Obligations to preserve the confidentiality of information disclosed over the course of the litigation and beyond;

The course planner for the seminar is Robert O. Lindenfjeld, Jones Day.
