NAWL, NJCCA To Co-sponsor Pair Of Seminars

The National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL) and the New Jersey Corporate Counsel Association (NJCCA) this month are co-sponsoring a pair of programs being presented in connection with the NAWL annual meeting.

On Monday, July 17, Up the Down Staircase, a discussion of why so few women lawyers reach the top in big law firms, will be presented from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the offices of Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge LLP, 750 Lexington Avenue, New York City.

The featured speaker will be Timothy L. O'Brien, the New York Times reporter who wrote the March 19 article of the same title. The facilitator will be Deborah Epstein Henry, Flex-Time Lawyers LLC.

On Tuesday, July 18, the two organizations will present Effective Partnering Strategies from 9 to 11:30 a.m., also at the Edwards Angell offices. Close cooperation between in-house and outside counsel is especially critical in negotiating the minefield of internal investigations. A panel of experienced government, in-house and private attorneys will use a real-life example of an internal investigation to explore the best practices for a productive working relationship among counsel.

The moderator will be James B. Moorhead, Steptoe & Johnson LLP. Other speakers will be Carrie Cohen, New York Attorney General's Office; Betsy Ferguson, Medco Health Solutions; Jane Sherburne, Citigroup; Jeanne Siegel, Bank of America, and Patricia Sullivan, Edwards Angell.

There is no registration fee for the July 17 program. For details on registration fees for the July 18 session, see the Bulletin Board on The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel website at www.metrocorpcounsel.com.
