Minority/Women-Owned Law Firm GroupSchedules Its First Annual Meeting

In-house attorneys and law firms across the country have been hearing about NAMWOLF without being fully aware of what the acronym means. The National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) is a national trade association with a membership of certified minority-owned and women-owned law firms. In the past few decades, Corporate America has had to decrease the number of firms used as outside counsel, and as a result, smaller, minority-owned and women-owned law firms were passed over in favor of large, multi-city majority-owned firms.NAMWOLF's mission is to increase the utilization of minority-owned and women-owned law firms by Corporate America.

NAMWOLF has scheduled its inaugural Annual Meeting and Law Firm Expo for Wednesday, October 19 at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Chicago. The meeting will feature a luncheon banquet with a panel of speakers, led by Leah Turner of Choice Hotels International, discussing NAMWOLF's Law Firm Membership process and the Corporate and Public Entities Partnering Program.

At the meeting, NAMWOLF also will present its first Annual Diversity Initiative Achievement Award to one of its corporate partners, Accenture Ltd., for outstanding diversity efforts both within the legal department and companywide. The afternoon will be a networking session giving in-house attorneys the opportunity to meet with NAMWOLF law firm members. In-house counsel and other decision makers are welcome to attend the Expo at no cost.
