MICPEL To Present Four-Part Series On Intellectual Property Law



MICPEL, the Maryland Institute for Continuing Professional Education of Lawyers, Inc., and the MSBA Section of Business Law & Technology Committee, in cooperation with The University of Baltimore School of Law and The University of Maryland School of Law, will present The Intellectual Property Law Winter 2004 Seminar Series.Each session will be presented from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Ecker Business Training Center in The Gateway Building, 6751 Columbia Gateway Drive, Columbia, Maryland.

Part I: The Basics of Patent, Trademark & Copyright Law & Practice: An IP Law Introduction and Overview, Including a Primer on Protecting Trade Secrets will be given on Wednesday, January 14.Faculty will include: Ned T. Himmelrich, Gordon, Feinblatt, Rothman, Hoffberger & Hollander, LLC; Charles J. Morton, Venable, Baetjer & Howard, LLP, and William S. Ramsey, solo practitioner.

Part II: Practical Patent Issues will be given on Wednesday, February 4.Faculty members include: Mr. Ramsey; Jerrold A. Thrope, Gordon Feinblatt, and Steven E. Tiller, Whiteford, Taylor & Preston L.L.P.

Part III: Practical Trademark Clearance, Registration & Dispute Resolution will be presented on Wednesday, February 25.Mr Himmelrich; charles F. Morgan, Hodes, Ulman, Pessin & Katz, P.A., and Donna M.D. Thomas, Astrachan, Gunst & Thomas, P.C., will serve as faculty.

Part IV: Practical Copyright Analysis & Protection will be presented on Wednesday, March 17.It will be taught by Sherry H. Flax, Saul Ewing LLP; Mr. Morton, and Michael D. Oliver, Bowie & Jensen, LLC.
