Michael B. Hyman, a principal with Much Shelist, recently took over as president of the Chicago Bar Association (CBA).
"He is selfless, smart, organized and will be a great leader for this organization," said his predecessor Joy V. Cunningham. "I often refer to Mike as the 'ideas man' because he comes up with great ideas with amazing regularity."
According to the CBA Record, Mr. Hyman's goals for the year will focus on increasing CBA's diversity, education and outreach initiatives. He has proposed the creation of a BA Institute as a 'graduate school' for non-legal education for lawyers, and a William Shakespeare Day to bring adversaries together and break down barriers of competition among lawyers.
Mr. Hyman has been a CBA members since 1978. He served as editor-in-chief of the CBA Recordfor 14 years from 1988 to 2004. He has been a member of the Herman Kogan Media Awards Competition Committee, the Membership Committee, and the Class Action Committee.
