The DC Bar Association's active membership has elected John C. Cruden, deputy assistant attorney general of the Environmental and Natural Resources Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, as president-elect of the DC Bar for the 2004-2005 term. Mr. Cruden will serve in that post for one year before becoming president and will continue in office a third year as immediate past president.
Mr. Cruden took office on June 23, when the 2003-2004 president-elect, John C. Keeney Jr., a partner at Hogan & Hartson, LLP, became president.
As career deputy assistant attorney general, Mr. Cruden currently supervises all federal civil environmental litigation involving the U.S. Department of Justice in the United States and specifically supervises the Environmental Enforcement Section and the Environmental Defense Section.
Also elected were Nicholas G. Karambelas, Sfikas & Karambelas LLP, as secretary, and Laura A. Possessky, Lichtman, Trister & Ross, as treasurer.
Elected to three-year terms of the Board of Governors were Rita M. Bank, Ain & Bank PC; Nathalie F.P. Gilfoyle, American Psychological Association; Ellen M. Jakovic, White & Case LLP; Charles R. Lowery Jr., Center for Responsible Lending and Center for Community Self-Help, and William H. Ng, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
