Inaugural Event Attracts NJ's Women In-House Lawyers

Launching the Women's Networking Committee of the New Jersey Corporate Counsel Association (NJCCA) on April 7, more than 60 in-house lawyers and guests shared insights on legal issues and career development. Honeywell Corporation generously provided meeting facilities and refreshments at its state-of-the-art conference center in Morristown, NJ.

The evening's keynote speaker, Christine Amalfe, chair of the Employment and Labor Practice Group of Gibbons, Del Deo, Dolan, Griffinger & Vecchione, P.C., provided an entertaining and informative overview of lawsuits arising from romances in corporate offices that have gone awry and identified practical steps companies can take to maintain a healthy work environment.

Based on the success of this first event, the Women's Networking Committee is planning a variety of future events focusing on the professional and extracurricular interests of women in-house attorneys.The next event will be held 6 to 8:45 p.m., Wednesday, June 15, at The Olde Mill Inn, Basking Ridge, NJ. The event features a reception and a panel discussion focused on "Work/Life Balance: Caring for the Family While Working." Panelists include Jeanne Hamburg, partner, Norris, McLaughlin & Marcus, PA; Devra Keenan, AV Search Consultants; and Lucinda Long, Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Valley National Bank.
