Immigration, Foreclosure Covered In HBA Fall Seminars

The Houston Bar Association has scheduled its fall and winter series of CLE seminars. November's offerings include Wrongful Foreclosures on Friday, November 4; Can the Undocumented Worker's Alien Status be Introduced at Trial on Friday, November 11; and Immigration Hot Topic Updates on Thursday, November 17.

Each segment offers CLE and ethics credits.

The Thursday seminar runs from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. at The Junior League of Houston, 1811 Briar Oaks Lane. The Friday sessions will run from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at the Harris County Jury Plaza, 1201 Congress in Downtown Houston.

Wrongful Foreclosures will feature Keval Patel, the Law Office of Keval Patel, P.C., who will teach attendees how to represent the consumer against wrongful acts in the foreclosure process.Next, Benny Agosto Jr., Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto & Friend, will cover whether evidence of immigration status can be admitted at trial. In the last November seminar, a panel will provide updates on prosecutorial discretion in the immigration courts, mental competency in the immigration arena, and export control compliance when hiring foreign nationals. The panelists are Janet Beck and Geoff Hoffman of the University of Houston Law Center and Pamela Nieto, Baker Hostetler LLP.
