How To Handle Copyright Infringement

The DC Bar Association this month has scheduled a CLE seminar titled How to Litigate a Copyright Infringement Case.

The program will take place on Tuesday, September 26 from 6 to 9:15 p.m. at the DC Bar Conference Center, 1250 H Street, NW, Washington, DC.

This class provides an introduction to copyright infringement litigation. It will begin with an overview of copyright infringement issues, including copyright subject matter, duration, formalities, works made for hire, and recent amendments to the copyright law.

Jurisdiction, venue, pleadings, and causes of action will be considered. Motions, discovery, and trial issues and strategies, including affirmative defenses such as fair use, will be explored. Attendees also will learn about remedies, appeals, compulsory licenses, and recent developments involving copyright in the digital era.

The speaker is Kenneth M. Kaufman, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.
