Focus Of WESFACCA Seminar:Trademarks And The Internet

WESFACCA this month is planning an advanced half-day workshop titled Trademarks in the Digital Millennium.

The program will take place on Thursday, October 6 from 9 to11:45 a.m. at the Indian Harbor Yacht Club, 710 Steamboat Road, Greenwich, CT.

The session, organized by WESFACCA's Intellectual Property Law and International Law committees, will cover issues such as:

  • Catching and stopping Internet infringement around the globe;
  • Issues of waiver, laches and estoppel;
  • Recent cases and developments from around the world on pop-ups, keyword advertising and meta-tags;
  • New piracy techniques to watch for: spamdexing, Google bombing, pop-unders, pharming and phishing;
  • Choosing the best forum (ACPA, ICANN or in rem );
  • Dealing with on-line auction piracy.

Speakers at the morning session will include Terri J. Frank, chief intellectual property counsel, Weight Watchers International, Inc., and J. David Mayberry and Jennifer L. Elgin, Kilpatrick Stockton LLP.
