Federal Judge From New JerseyTo Be Honored BY NAWL

The National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL) this month will honor Judge Katharine S. Hayden, U.S. District Court for New Jersey, with its Arabella Babb Mansfield Award at its Annual Awards Luncheon.

The event will take place on Tuesday, July 18 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, 301 Park Avenue, New York City.

Judge Hayden's award is NAWL's highest, given in recognition of professional achievement, positive influence and valuable contribution to women in the law and in society. The award is named after the first American women admitted to the state bar in the United States.

Judge Hayden was appointed to the New Jersey Superior Court in 1991, and served as a trial judge in the Family Part and Criminal Division. In the latter assignment, she established the Drug Court for Essex County, NJ and served as its first judge. In 1997, she was appointed to the federal bench for the District of New Jersey, Newark Vicinage.
