The firm of Dechert LLP this month is planning three CLE seminars covering corporate and employment law topics for the Greater New York Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel America (NY ACCA).
Each of the programs runs from 9 a.m. to noon and takes place at the Rainbow Room, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York City.
On Tuesday, April 4, Dechert is offering a program titled Trends in Securities Enforcement, a session that will examine the full meaning of the SEC's recent indication that it will continue its aggressive enforcement of federal securities laws.
Speakers are Paul Huey-Burns, Dechert; David Kornblau, first vice president and general counsel of global regulatory affairs, Merrill Lynch & Co., and Helene Glotzer, associate regional director, SEC.
On Wednesday, April 19, the firm has scheduled a program titled Employment Mediation, Arbitration and Dispute Resolution.
This program will address the pros and cons of mediation and arbitration in the employment context, the components of an effective ADR system, the kinds of employment disputes that could or should be arbitrated, and problematic clauses in many arbitration agreements.
Speakers will be M. Frances Ryan, Dechert, and Christine Kucera Kalla, vice president and associate group general counsel-employment, St. Paul Travelers.
On Tuesday, April 25, Dechert will present a session titled Resolving Disputes Against Sovereign States.
Panelists will discuss new laws in several countries limiting the rights of foreign investors and provide practical guidance for structuring investments to take advantage of investment treaties, ensure a fair forum for resolving disputes, and maximize the prospects for collecting against states or state enterprises.
Speakers will be George K. Foster, Gillian Lemaire and Eduardo Silva Romero, all of Dechert.
