DC Bar Plans Negotiations Seminar

The DC Bar Association this month is planning a CLE seminar designed to help attorneys negotiate more effectively.

The program, titled Practical and Proven Negotiation Techniques for Lawyers, is scheduled for Thursday, October 14.

Through a series of interactive exercises, mock negotiations, and case studies of real disputes, this workshop will present a set of negotiation strategies and concepts designed to help attorneys reach agreements that provide clients with maximum advantage. Attendees also will learn a practical, proven approach for resolving difficult legal disputes.

Issues to be covered include: whether and how to make the first offer; how to manage the lawyer-client relationship during the negotiation process; how to identify your personal negotiation strengths and weaknesses; how to listen to the other side while getting your point across, and how to evaluate whether your negotiated settlements are better than potential outcomes at trial.

The featured speaker at the afternoon session will be Andrew Tulumello, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.

The program will take place from 2 to 6:15 p.m. at the DC Bar Conference Center, 1250 H Street, NW, Washington, DC.
