DC Bar Association Plans Ethics Seminar

To keep lawyers up to date on legal ethics requirements, the DC Bar Association this month has scheduled a CLE seminar titled Survival Guide for the Virtuous Lawyer: A Legal Ethics Seminar.

The program will take place on Tuesday, August 30 from 1:30 to 4:45 p.m. at the DC Bar Conference Center, 1250 H Street, NW, Washington, DC.

This seminar explores the dangerous jungles of legal ethics, where unexpected perils may lurk and attorneys must be alert, prepared and well-armed with ethical problem-solving tools.

Among the challenging topics covered in this interactive seminar are:

  • Hidden conflicts, sudden conflicts and surprising conflicts, and how to handle them;
  • "Scorched earth" tactics: beat them or join them;
  • Reporting a colleague for misconduct;
  • Duties upon withdrawal;
  • The use of selective ignorance;
  • Multijurisdictional practice traps;
  • Independent judgment.

The presenter for this afternoon seminar will be Jack Marshall of ProEthics.
