Corporate Counsel University - Another ACC Benefit

The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), formerly known as the American Corporate Counsel Association, serves the professional needs of in-house counsel practicing in the legal departments of more than 7,000 organizations worldwide. As a worldwide network of attorneys sharing practical solutions to enhance client service and advance professional values, ACC provides in-house counsel with resources they can use to solve their daily problems, improve their management skills and develop a productive and cost-efficient legal department at every stage of their careers. This year, ACC will present the 2nd Annual Corporate Counsel University: The Basics of In-house Counseling, May 16-18 at the Fairmont Dallas, a program designed especially for attorneys who are new to the in-house practice or need a refresher on the basics of in-house counseling.

ACC understands the challenges that new in-house counsel face working within a corporate legal department. At Corporate Counsel University, attendees will be brought up to speed on all of those big issues for which nothing else has prepared them. This includes the most recent developments in corporate compliance, ethics, and professional responsibility for in-house counsel, effective practice techniques for working with corporate management, and hot topics in major areas of corporate law.

Plus, new this year, ACC is offering a mini-seminar covering the specialized needs of small law department practitioners. These programs will focus on issues that are unique to small law departments and attendees will receive practical tips from those who don't have a big staff or a lot of resources at their disposal.

At Corporate Counsel University, attendees will learn from seasoned in-house experts from such organizations as Halliburton Company, Duke Energy Corporation, UBS Financial Services Inc., Adobe Systems Incorporated, and United Communications Inc., just to name a few. The faculty will share experiences from their careers and discuss the hallmarks of an effective in-house counselor.

The name ACC has become synonymous with quality corporate counsel education, as its offerings are centered on continuing legal education for in-house counsel by in-house counsel. Corporate Counsel University has proven to provide the groundwork necessary to foster a successful in-house career. And, it's an opportunity to start a network among new in-house counsel peers.
