Consultant Will Offer Advice On Jury Selection

The Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) this month is offering a CLE seminar titled Effective Jury Selection: Mastering the Power of the Process at two Ohio locations.

The programs will take place on Wednesday, July 28 at the OSBA offices, 1700 Lake Shore Drive, Columbus, and on Thursday, July 29 at the Forum Conference Center in Cleveland. Each session runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with registration starting at 8 a.m.

The featured speaker is Joseph V. Guastaferro, who comes to this seminar fresh from his work for the defense of John Allen Muhammad in the Washington, DC sniper case and the Oklahoma state trial of Terry Nichols in the Oklahoma City bombing case. He is known across the country by the legal community as an insightful and practical trial consultant.

Among his lists of tips, Mr. Guastaferro will discuss ten jury selection traps to avoid, four elements of credibility and rapport - empathy, warmth, respect and congruence, five elements of the open-ended conversation, and four methods of indoctrinating the jury to see your reality.
