City Bar Examines The Role Of Attorneys On Nonprofit Boards

On Monday, August 2 the New York City Bar Association will replay a video that looks at the role of attorneys who serve as members of boards of nonprofit organizations. The meeting will take place from 9:00 to 11:50 a.m. at the Bar Association located at 42 West 44th Street in New York City.

The program will provide attendees with valuable information about serving, or considering whether to serve, on the board of a nonprofit. The topics covered will include a presentation by Jean L. Tom of Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP on the legal framework of New York nonprofits, followed by a segment on standards of conduct delivered by Marion E. Ringel of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP.Other issues, such as the attorney as an advisor on the nonprofit board and the best practices for New York nonprofits, will be examined by Linda S. Manley, the legal director for the Lawyers Alliance of New York and David G. Samuels of Duval & Stachenfeld LLP.

The seminar will conclude with the panel offering a question and answer session.
