The Boston Bar Association (BBA) this month is planning a pair of seminars that will focus on biotech hot topics.
On Friday, May 7, BBA will present Biotech Licensing and Strategic Alliances.
This session will cover topics such as how to structure biotech deals and successfully negotiate and close them; drafting advice around key provisions; the university perspective on licensing out technology and rights, and how best to plan for and handle disputes that arise during strategic alliances.
The moderator for this program will be Kingsley L. Taft, Foley Hoag LLP. Other speakers will be Sarah Shoaf Cabot, Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C.; Thomas Ittelson, The Whitehall Institute for Biomedical Research; Nader Mousavi, Hale and Dorr LLP, and Gerald E. Quirk, Genzyme Corporation.
On Friday, May 21, BBA is offering Biotech Patents issues, a session that will focus on patenting techniques to maximize the scope and term of patent portfolios: recent patent rulings from the Court of Appeals.
The moderator will be Colleen Superko, Hale and Dorr. Other speakers will be Isabelle M. Clauss, Foley Hoag LLP; Brenda Herschbach Jarrell, Choate, Hall & Stewart; Crystal D. Talley, Ropes & Gray LLP, and Patrick R.H. Waller, Wolf, Greenfield & Sacks, P.C.
Each program will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the BBA Conference Center, 16 Beacon Street, Boston.
