Hundreds of billions of dollars of outsourcing transactions occur each year in the U.S. and offshore. However, outsourcing presents risk and the shifting of risk for all parties. One misstep by the service provider can put them out of business. Conversely, service providers who have made pricing errors for large engagements have jeopardized their entire company.
Some of the pitfalls of outsourcing will be examined this month by the Association of the Bar of the City of New York in a CLE seminar titled Outsourcing: Practical & Business Considerations to Protecting the Crown Jewels.
The program, set for Tuesday, January 27, will provide a foundation for negotiating outsourcing agreements including: scope, service levels, pricing, intellectual property, personnel issues, regulatory, privacy, offshore servicing and business continuity.
