The DC Bar Association this month has scheduled a CLE seminar titled Antitrust Investigations in the Era of Enron and WorldCom.
The program will take place on Thursday, July 15 from 6 to 9:15 p.m. at the DC Bar Conference Center, 1250 H Street, NW, Washington, DC.
Issues to be covered will include: false statements, obstruction and similar issues arising with companies and witnesses in criminal antitrust investigations; new and higher risks posed by various Sarbanes-Oxley provisions and DOJ policies; lessons learned from Enron, Martha Stewart, and other corporate misconduct prosecutions; ethical issues raised by the existence of the government's amnesty and amnesty "plus" programs for companies and individuals; conflicts of interest and multiple representation issues, with special focus on concerns that arise at the beginning of an investigation or first contact with government agents, and issues relating to foreign nationals employed by foreign companies.
The program chair is Ray V. Hartwell, Hunton & Williams, LLP. Other speakers include Scott D. Hammond, director of criminal enforcement, Antitrust Division, U.S. Department of Justice, and Donald C. Klawiter, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, LLP.
