The Practising Law Institute will hold a one-day seminar this fall, Advanced Patent Licensing 2011: Current Developments and Best Practices - a course that will benefit intellectual property lawyers, corporate counsel and others involved in using patents as business assets.
It will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the PLI CA Center, 685 Market Street in San Francisco.
In the current economy, with companies anxious to monetize their patent portfolios, understanding patent transactions has never been more important. In this seminar, experts in patent licensing will cover the following recent legal developments: how to deal with "patent marking trolls," new strategies in light of Quanta, MedImmune and SanDisk, the critical differences among different types of patent transactions, creating win/win patent licenses, controversial provisions and how to negotiate them, drafting to avoid unenforceable agreements, U.S. v. foreign licensing considerations, and more.
Among the faculty are Sara D. Harrington, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati; Winston E. Henderson, Surface Logix, Inc.; and Christopher Pickett, Rambus Inc.
