ABCNY Seminar Will OfferBasic Arbitrator Training

The Association of the Bar of the City of New York (ABCNY) on Monday, August 22 will present a video replay of a CLE seminar titled Basic Arbitrator Training: What You Need to Know to Become an Arbitrator.

This is a basic arbitrator skills program that introduces lawyers to the duties and responsibilities of domestic arbitrators. The program tracks the issues an arbitrator must deal with from consideration for appointment through the proceeding and award as well as post award issues.

Experienced arbitrators will present issues and scenarios that are commonly faced by arbitrators and will recommend approaches for dealing with the issues. The panel will expose attendees to the rules of major domestic arbitration provider organizations.

The program is designed for experienced attorneys who are considering a transition to the role of arbitrator. The audience is expected to be lawyers who practice in the commercial arena, transactional lawyers and corporate counsel. At least eight years of professional experience is required.

Serving as co-chairs for the program are Deborah Masucci, director of dispute resolution in the Litigation Management Department, AIG, and Nancy Nelson, a Fellow at the CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution.

The program will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at the House of the Association, 42 West 44th Street, New York City.
