The Association of the Bar of the City of New York (ABCNY) has prepared a report concerning the legal standards applicable to the United States interrogation of detainees that has received widespread media attention recently.
The extensive report, prepared by the Committee on International Human Rights and Military Affairs and Justice, was issued shortly before the first photos of the abused Iraqi prisoners were broadcast. The committees began development of the report more than a year ago when they were contacted by a group of military lawyers who were concerned about changes in the procedures the U.S. was using to interrogate detainees.
