ABA Business Law SectionSchedules Fall CLE Meeting In DC

The American Bar Association Section of Business Law has scheduled its 2005 Fall CLE meeting for Friday and Saturday, November 18 and 19 in Washington, DC.

The meeting is designed as an opportunity to exchange views, explore issues, identify emerging practices, and obtain regulatory guidance and insight, as well as providing a venue for interaction between in-house counsel, outside counsel and the SEC, NYSE, NASD and PCAOB.

Some of the topics to be covered in individual sessions are:

Bankruptcy for Breakfast: The Top Ten Developments in Bankruptcy Law and Litigation in 2005;

Key Financial Reporting Issues Relating to Option Expensing and Off-Balance Sheet Arrangements;

Indemnifying and Insuring Management in Crisis;

Legal and Compliance Risk Management in the Financial Services Industry;

Tensions on the Border - An Update on the Sometimes Uneasy Relationship Between State and Federal Corporate Governance Regimes;

Securities Offering Reform: The Nuts and Bolts;

Executive Compensation Disclosure Under Pressure.

Among the speakers participating in the two-day program are the Hon. Elizabeth S. Stong, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York; the Hon. John W. Noble, Delaware Court of Chancery; Diane E. Ambler, Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham LLP; Jay G. Barris, Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP, and the Hon. Myron T. Steele, chief justice of the Delaware Supreme Court.

Sessions will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, 1150 22nd Street, NW, Washington, DC.
