AAA Plans Three Arbitration Seminars

The American Arbitration Association (AAA) this month and next is planning a trio of seminars on various aspects of arbitration.

On Tuesday, November 9, AAA will present Designing Your Remedy: How to Maximize the Effectiveness of an Arbitration Clause.This comprehensive and interactive program is designed to provide participants with the best practices in arbitration clause design.

Speakers will be Ruth Kurtz, Stapper & Van Doren, and Rona Shamoon, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.

On Tuesday, December 7, AAA is offering Safeguarding the Award, an interactive program that will address the statutory grounds for vacating an award, as well as practical tips used by counsel to preserve the integrity of the award.

Speakers for this session will be Richard Mattiacio, Pavia & Harcourt, LLP, and Dorothy Crouch, Crouch International, Ltd.

On Friday, December 17, AAA has scheduled That's Not My Arbitration Agreement! Can Non-Signatories Be Compelled to Arbitrate? This program is designed to address whether arbitrators have the authority to compel non-signatories to arbitrate, how to avoid conflict and controversy regarding signatories when entering into the agreement and how non-signatories may be compelled to arbitrate.

Speakers for December 17 will be Christine Lepera, Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal, and Thomas Halket, Bingham McCutchen LLP.

All programs will take place from noon to 2 p.m. at the AAA offices, 1633 Broadway, New York City.
